tara communications, public relations, website, Internet, WoodburyCity of Woodbury website

The City of Woodbury's old municipal website suffered from numerous content, design, technology, branding and accessibility problems. Its content and navigation was government rather than user-focused. Its information was dated, lengthy, and difficult to read. It was burdensome and costly to update. Its coding hindered the ability of search engines to index the site and generate meaningful query results. Most importantly, the site failed to attract community residents or prospective visitors and business owners to learn more about the city's offerings.

Tara Communications built a new site that was user-focused, search engine friendly and easy to maintain. We leveraged photography and text to reinforce the concept that Woodbury is a great place to live, visit and work. We employed custom maps, contact lists, photo galleries and archives to enhance information access. We shortened pages, flattened the navigation structure, and provided quick access to critical forms, search capabilities and the homepage.

As a result of our work, West Deptford Township (NJ) and the Gloucester County Improvement Authority (on behalf of the county's stormwater management program) engaged us to build websites for their organizations.

In November 2005, the New Jersey State League of Municipalities named the Woodbury site as the top municipal site in the state. One month later, the Philadelphia Chapter of the Public Relations Society presented Tara Communications with a Pepperpot Ladle Award for its outstanding work on the Woodbury site.
