Woodbury Named Top Municipal Website in New Jersey

Woodbury, NJ (November 18, 2005) — The first government website ever created by Tara Communications LLC received the New Jersey State League of Municipalities' prestigious Public Affairs Award yesterday during the association's 90th Annual Conference in Atlantic City, NJ. Mayor Leslie Clark accepted the award on behalf of the City of Woodbury.

"It is a great honor to be publicly recognized for our efforts in trying to make as much information available to as many people as we can," said Clark. "The award tells us that we are on the right track, and it validates what we believe - that websites are extremely important communications tools and need to be developed and maintained with professionalism."

"This site features an elegant and clean design, and one that attracted the attention of residents," said Stuart Meck of the Center for Government Services at Rutgers University during his presentation of the award.

Tara Communications, a Turnersville, NJ strategic public relations, marketing and Internet communications firm designed the site (www.woodbury.nj.us) to make it easy for residents, visitors and potential business owners to find timely, relevant and interesting information about Woodbury and its government.

"We used photos, customized maps, sortable contact lists, alphabetic list of municipal services, and more to communicate that Woodbury is not just an historic city, but also a great place to live, visit and work," said Rick Alcantara, principal of Tara Communications.

"Users of our website are looking for everything from nice photos of the town to information about upcoming events," said Mayor Clark. "It truly serves as the gateway to all the information about the city that one could want. Everything from past minutes of council meetings to the requirements for buildings in the historic preservation zone to when youth basketball sign-ups are being held is available in a convenient format."

Tara Communications is currently creating sites for West Deptford Township (NJ) and the Gloucester County Improvement Authority's Stormwater Management Program.
