"The Pennsaukens" Launch New Websites

Pennsauken NJ – Pennsauken Township and the Pennsauken Free Municipal Library recently launched colorful, interactive and information-rich websites. Both sites promote the community and deliver timely news and information.

The township website (www.twp.pennsauken.nj.us) contains a robust directory of municipal government forms and applications, a section devoted entirely to starting and owning a business in Pennsauken, an interactive calendar of events, and an easy-to-access list of common government services. It also contains bios of council members, descriptions of each municipal department, maps of the community, history of the township, and lists of the community's various schools, houses of worship, parks and playgrounds.

The library site (www.pennsaukenlibrary.org) contains vibrant photos and colors that should attract visitors young and old. They can access library services and fully use library resources from an information, education and entertainment perspective. They can also find details on conducting research, obtaining a library card, managing a job search and so much more. Teenagers will find pages dedicated to discussions on college, careers, homework and volunteerism. Youngsters will find pages of information about new books and videos, homework and library-sponsored events.

"The new site is very engaging and user-friendly," said Library Director Richard Thau. "It will almost certainly increase the number of people that visit the library building, tap our online resources and attend our events. It is indeed the foundation in which one will witness the evolution of our Pennsauken Library cyber-branch of service to the greater community."

Tara Communications LLC, a public relations, marketing and Internet communications firm in Turnersville, NJ built both sites. The firm previously planned, developed or measured sites for CIGNA, Exelon, American Airlines, ABCO Federal Credit Union (www.goabco.org), Cooper Levenson (www.cooperlevenson.com) and others. They also built award-winning sites for the City of Woodbury (www.woodbury.nj.us) and West Deptford Township (www.westdeptford.com).

"Our goal in building both sites," said Rick Alcantara, founder and principal of Tara Communications, "was to create sites that engage and educate visitors. We wanted the sites to promote Pennsauken Township as a wonderful place to live and work. We also wanted them to be easy to read, navigate and maintain."

Both sites contain a contact form, site map, site search capability, flat architecture (roughly 95% of all content is no more than three clicks from the homepage), and links to valuable online resources.
